It’s certainly no surprise that interaction within the art community takes time, determination, and a good deal of tough skin. Competing for the perfect dealer, or bidding on that one piece you just need. This being said, it’s also no surprise that this game of Art Dealing is indeed a cut throat business.
Many art dealers assume the position, purchase space, and fill it with art, art, art! And then masquerade around like they’re stuff is the only stuff worth buying. Within this industry there is an underground association of backstabbers and frauds. Art dealers who work together under the table to produce the perfect amount of clientele and then aid one another in up selling. I know what you’re thinking? In New York City, no way! *gasp* Indeed my little friends, this is a story long forgotten, but reproduced by the masses.
If you’re a stuffy intellectual you probably buy into the bullshit that the world of fine art has to offer you, but if you’re a down right Artophile you already know your stuff. Stuff? Well, what I mean is you know Mirek Klabal Fine Art dealer of course. His mastermind and “for the people”, “extraordinary art lover”, “impeccable business man” demeanor reflect his sales and conquests.
For anyone in the art world, it’s common to do background checks on who your dealing with. But, did you ever think the dealers themselves did background checks on you? Well, maybe not, but if Klabal was ever to do that, and I’m not saying he doesn’t! He would be the mastermind behind all proper transactions through New York City.
What makes his expertise so unique is his uncanny ability to accomplish anything he puts his mind to. Whether that’s selling two Chagall’s in one day, or traveling to Tokyo to purchase the hottest Warhol on the market. Mirek Klabal knows his art. This is quite refreshing from the usual hob-knobbed artsy fartsy people in the Greenwich Village, or *gasp* the “other Greenwich”!
Collecting art shouldn’t be about impressing your friends or looking fabulously rich. Collecting art is about passion and choice. Distinct desire and hope for new beginnings. Without the desire to share and rejoice in the beauty of art, why bother having eyes at all. Klabal realizes that, and in his unique manner, once again snuffs it off with a bang!
